Our user groups have built capability, influenced data tools, and advanced more inclusive tech environments

Datawise London's user groups for Airtable, Power BI and Aide CRM were practical, peer-led spaces where participants could share real examples, solve problems together, and exchange templates.

These lightly convened groups shifted learning away from traditional training and towards collaborative capacity-building.

The user groups created psychologically safe spaces where people felt comfortable asking questions and sharing challenges.

They helped dismantle gatekeeping around data expertise and encouraged more practitioners to see themselves as data capable.

Overall, the user groups reshaped learning in the VCSE sector, proving that peer-led models can build capability, influence tools, and advance more inclusive tech environments.

Our user groups

Airtable

The Airtable user group offered a direct view into how peers structured systems and solved operational challenges.

Members exchanged templates, tackled shared problems, and expanded their thinking from using Airtable as a simple database to treating it as a full organisational backbone.

Power BI

Power BI user groups revealed gaps in commercial tools, such as postcode mapping for UK charities, and helped build pressure for improvements.

Over time, the group evolved into a sustained community of 38 data leads connected via Teams, showing a shift towards lasting peer infrastructure.

Aide CRM

The Aide CRM user group brought small charities together around a shared frustration: limited reporting.

They successfully pushed for API access as a collective, enabling charities to build dashboards and access deeper insights and had now become co-creators of the tools they relied on.
